The challenge

A critical business system had become expensive to change and risky to operate. Full replacement in one cutover was too dangerous; doing nothing was worse. The organisation needed a staged modernisation path that protected continuity while retiring the legacy stack.

The approach

  1. 01

Audited the legacy estate to find the highest-risk modules and the safest strangler seams.

  2. 02

Introduced APIs and adapters so new services could take traffic gradually.

  3. 03

Rebuilt priority workflows first, with parallel running where business risk demanded it.

  4. 04

Documented architecture, runbooks, and ownership so internal teams could operate the new system.

The output

  • Modernisation roadmap and risk map
  • Replacement services for priority workflows
  • Integration and migration plan
  • Handover documentation and operating model
